I love to watch movies. There are so many available;being moody and choosey this offers a variety of options to a truly satisfying experience.
Sometimes I watch them for entertainment. Sometimes a mindless distraction from boredom- time sucker. Sometimes a social pastime, engaged but not enmeshed interaction with another-friends,family,date. Sometimes for exploring and learning and reflecting and inspiration. Sometimes for healing. One year for a Christmas gift suggestion I asked for a book called Cinema Therapy. There are many versions, but basically its a book that breaks down movie suggestions by themes for individual or girls night gatherings- chick flick romances, need a good laugh, misunderstood relationships, great movies if life is offering..... Any way, before I start wandering off into more creative ways to do movies, my original intent is about healing with movies. I have this magnet for bringing books and movies, people, things into my life at just the right time( mmmm I suppose we all do, with different levels of awareness, coincidence, synchronicity, serendepity, divine wake-up calls, messages, hints, warnings,possibilities...) Movies can be great triggers to an issue we could use a little attention to or suggestions from our subconscious wanting to become conscious. A way to express societal or cultural issues. A way to consider other not thought about before perspectives. Any way, I decided to become a little more cooperative with awareness, attention, and intention with my healing and movie choices. It has really paid off and so, yep, you guessed it. I have been inspired to add another level to it. If I could enjoy this healing aspect for myself and my "groupies", what if I were to add another circle. Being so focused on exclusively inclusive, I decided to go for the collective unconscious, incorporating others with the same need for healing, myself, society, other cultures, family lines, lost souls, unseens,ancestors.... You name it, I included it.(I'm sure it is coincidence that I am currently participating in an Ancestors Exhibit) I asked spirit to work with me and this is the movie choice: Extremely Loud,Incredibly Close. It is a 9/11 theme about a little boy and his mother (Sandra Bullock) who lost their father/husband(Tom Hanks) in the Towers and goes on a healing mission searching for a connection with his lost father. Not only are there amazing one liners and healing, both his own and others, well- just watch it for yourself. Ofcourse, it being September and all a week from the date, I know, just coincidence. So, I set the intention and offered a few healing tools for good measure in teamwork with spirit and highest good for all and watched the movie. WOWZA!! talk about a whole nother level of movie viewing and healing, and release, and depth of experience and and and.......To put words to it is almost indescribable. Needless to say, I was a puddle for hours but, I can't wait to do it again!! If you think, what can I do as one person to make a big enough impact or difference to "the way things are", I challenge you to give it a try. What we can accomplish with awareness, attention, and intention even in the most ordinary daily life experiences is simply, complexingly overwhelming!! When we seek we are not always aware of what doors we open in the process of seeking or indirectly what affects we make in our persistance. Give it a try yourself and experience profound exponential results. You can't lose. If nothing else, you will see a really great movie and have something to talk about. Or find a creative way to add another level to an experience. Happy Journeys!
