While Walking over the hill to the valley by the water where I hide I came across a Large turkey on my path. Stopped in my tracks; I bow and ask permission to sit. Granted, I gently place myself on the ground and bow again, in gratitude. A few moments passed as we each eyeing the other in silence. I ask if I may take his picture. A resounding NO, I have something else in mind. Ten minutes maybe longer,( it's times like this that TIME isn't real, only the moment, the breath, and the majestic) when he felt the exchange complete. He finished the red berries on the ground at his feet and then he fluffed himself so exquisitely depositing several feathers to the ground. He bowed at me, I again at him, he walked off and I graciously collected my treasures of feathers and embodied medicine. An odd tingling calm remained with me the rest of my day.
The blessings of Turkey medicine: The Give A Way-recognizing the sacrifices of self and others, in turkey death we are gifted life. Turkey teaches that no one wins unless the whole of all's needs are met. Abundant virtue of self transcendence;acting and reacting on the behalf of others and their needs. Highest service, serving not martyred, righteous, moral, manipulating, obligating or guilt ridden religious ritual, yet, from a place of deep reverence with life and the sacred. A deep respect for the truth that ALL is a piece of the Great Spirit of ALL. The gift in what ever form carries great significance and must be shared. From the well of wealth, with open hands held to mouth, I blow the blessings to be carried within the winds. Happy Thanksgiving, Pass It On..........I Bow, in silence, many blessings
